It is also possible to turn on the noise reduction feature of your camera. This function reduces noise caused by high ISO. Camera takes a black photo and merges it into your image. This doubles the exposure time.

Your camera will take 60 seconds for the image to process if you set your shutter speed at 30 seconds. Many photographers use noise reduction techniques for post-processing.

Three Star Photography: Recommended Gear

Three star photography requires specific gear. The type of night photography that you are doing will determine which gear is best. Let’s start with a list that can be used for all types of night sky photography.

A digital camera that has a high ISO performance is essential. We will be discussing the importance of ISO in the article. ISO performance is particularly important when photographing Milky Way. The ability to create star images improves with the new digital cameras that have ISO settings.

A Tripod is a Good Choice for Star Photos.

A fast lens should have an aperture of at minimum f/2.8. A narrow aperture captures less light. The more light that hits your sensor, the wider the aperture. Lenses that are used to photograph the night sky typically have apertures of f/1.4 or f/1.8.

A Condensation Prevention Lens Heating Device – Cold night conditions can cause condensation to form on the front of your lens. This heater heats the lens and prevents it from catching water.

Smartphone – There are many useful apps for smartphones that allow you to take three star photos. In this article, we’ll highlight a few.
