El Centro Family Health’s mission is to offer affordable, accessible and quality health care for the Northern New Mexico three star photography population. It is a lifetime journey to develop a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

Northern New Mexico’s journey is richly enriched by the culture, traditions, and history of its people. This quality of life is difficult to achieve due to distance, isolation, economics and lack of information.

El Centro provides vital health services in a supportive and caring environment through a network of clinics and cooperative programs. We provide services to the residents of the region and preserve the traditional characteristics that make Northern New Mexico unique.

EL CENTRO FAMILY HEALTH: OUR PURPOSE

El Centro Family Health’s mission is to improve the well-being and health of our patients and their communities. This is achieved through health promotion and education, disease prevention activities, case management, and other means.

El Centro Family Health offers services to everyone in our service area, regardless of their ability to pay. Patients are assessed using a sliding-fee scale and then a decision is made based upon their income and family size. We advocate for patients in order to provide access to all of our services, as we recognize the changing healthcare environment.

El Centro Family Health offers affordable quality healthcare to rural Northern New Mexico. There are 13 clinics and 9 school-based clinics. There are also 3 dental clinics. Our clinics cover 22,000 acres and provide care for more than 17,700 patients annually.

His appearance on PBS’s documentary The Providers gave him a voice. It focused on El Centro’s efforts to provide much-needed assistance to rural New Mexico residents who are elderly and low-income. He was using it to spread the message that facilities such as his were urgently needed throughout America.

Despite all the attention and awards (Probst was the American Academy of Physician Assistants’ Physician Assistant of Year in April 2019), he still felt that there was more to do. Probst, a bowhunter, and father of four boys, says, “We had trophies up the walls, but no meat in our freezer.”

Probst was devastated when a patient died. Probst recalls, “I felt that I had to do something about this.”

Lore Pease, El Centro CEO, said Probst is a driven problem solver. Probst focused on the ways in which the problems plaguing his patients could been addressed, starting with the young. Pease says that Probst is on a pope francis photography mission “to help and serve the communities El Centro serves.”
